Humming along

image.jpegHaven’t posted in a week because school started Wednesday and my walking has been catch-as-catch can around our erratic schedule. Been trying to do my “laps” at the park with James.

Today, I walked to WW in less time than I anticipated: about 30 minutes. You notice things walking that you’d never seen from the car, like a lovely hummingbird feasting on a fuscia passionflower.

After a big week with a wedding, screwed-up sleep, and the Beer Tasting, relieved to report a loss at WW of over 3 pounds, bringing the total to 12!  See the “Bravo” and 5 lb stickers.

Hope to take big walks this week on Tuesday and Thursday when I don’t teach! The Presidio will be the target on Tuesday and maybe Marina Green/Crissy Field on Thursday. Planning works!

Signs of the Times

Today’s walking destination was Weight Watchers! After a visit with Dr. Wong, I loved walking down the memory lane that is Polk Street to the Century Club. Bypassed Bob’s Donuts and instead, stopped to pick up fruit and yogurt. 8.6 pounds down! Great meeting.

Back in the Act!

It’s Friday, August 12, 2016, two years since my last post! No excuses. Life happens, but happy to say I’m back on track. Here’s a quick catch-up on the past 2 years: Dr. Mama bids farewell to ICA and hello to SHC.  And here’s a quick catch up on the past week: started WW on Saturday, Feast of the Transfiguration. Have walked (intentionally) a bit each day since then. Here are photos of the “high water marks”.

Filbert to Filmore

Walked to collect our car on Filmore, since we’d left it there after dining at Dino’s Friday night. Definitely passed a bunch of “walk of shame” types as I rushed to beat meter maids on the prowl starting at 9. Phone camera still down, so here are some oldies on the Jones Street steps, the toughest part of the walk!

Hyde Street pier

Today’s walk signaled a release from the dissertation-writing prison I’d forced myself into all day. A beautiful day in the city of San Francisco. After catching up on errands, I strolled the Hyde Street pier to its end, past the beautiful ships and assorted sailing vessels and multi-lingual tourists. Beautiful views of both bridges at the end, accompanied by the smell of salty seas. My phone’s camera is on strike after 11,000+ photos, so I’ve pulled an oldie of James posing in front of the Balclutha.

Lone Mountain

Today’s goal was the highest point on the USF campus: the One-Stop office! The walk from Nonna’s house was quicker than expected, although I was definitely a sweathog by the time I reached the hilltop! All registered (thank you, Lone Mountain ladies, for taking care of the bill!) and visited Saint Madeleine Sophie before sitting under the palm trees for a cup of Alumni-sponsored coffee. A new semester commences!

Saturday in the library

Been a negligent walker/blogger/weight loser the past couple days cuz I’ve been buried in dissertation work. After 8 hours in the North Beach library today, punctuated by two visits from Thomas, I made my 30-minute wsacape…as far as the loo at the Argonuat Hotel. Their blue tilework caught my eye, as well as the mermaids in the bathroom.
