46 years young

It all started in a hurricane and this little lady has been leaving her mark ever since. She is a great teacher, a great friend, a wonderful mother, a loving wife and an inspiration to many after losing 106 lbs. She is far from being done as she grows more beautiful, touches more lives and keeps evolving.

Happy birthday to our girl; Leenie the Queenie, Mama, LB, 88!!!!!!!

St. Patrick’s Seminary, Menlo Park

Positively awful conference on faith and science on Monday. Only saving graces were (a) being with Anne and SHC colleagues, (b) running into old friends like Chris Valdez and Ken Swan, and (c) strolling the beautiful grounds, which reminded me very much of Sacred Heart Atherton.

Benicia State Recreation Area

Checked out this lovely state park on our way to the RS department party in Benecia. Beautiful Bay views (including of my least favorite bridge across the bay) and a fun time watching some friendly fishermen. Made a quick stop also to check out the Botanical Garden. Lovely local gems.

In the hood

Picked up my 13,500 today without leaving the neighborhood! Back and forth to school twice (once with Mary Bear) 3 hours at Bosco’s basement, around Washington Square Park, then errands on Bay Street (Goodwill drop-off, DeLise icey treats, Safeway for yogurt, Trader Joe’s for the usuals) ending in this lovely view of an early moon rising over the icons of North Beach: Coit Tower and Sts. Peter and Paul!

Lyon Street steps

To continue the “step” theme after class with my student Summer’s mom at the Presidio Y, I decided it was high time to explore the Lyon Street steps, since I’ve been parking by the Lombard/Chestnut gates on Lyon for the last year!

Parked on Union/Baker and walked up Lyon to Broadway (who knew there was a Presidio entrance there?) and then down the stairs on Baker. Lots of gardeners and construction workers fixing up the palacial homes of Pacific Heights!

Michaelangelo

Hadn’t been to this park in months, but headed there with James earlier this week for him to shoot hoops and me to hit the tennis ball. There was a huge after-school crowd, so I ended up doing dozens of laps admiring the community garden before the court cleared out. I’ve never seen the garden looking so lovely in full bloom!
