Michaelangelo

Hadn’t been to this park in months, but headed there with James earlier this week for him to shoot hoops and me to hit the tennis ball. There was a huge after-school crowd, so I ended up doing dozens of laps admiring the community garden before the court cleared out. I’ve never seen the garden looking so lovely in full bloom!

Marina via Aquatic Park

Later mass today, so we walked to Homeplate on Lombard for breakfast, picked some fruity treats at the Fort Mason Farmer’s market, identified a lovely picnic spot for a future Sunday, and then frolicked in Aquatic Patk. And at the end: literal Flipflops on Filbert from Leavenworth down!

Mission Bay

Walked along the water a bit after the San Pedro party at Mission Rock. Sun setting: loveliness…lots of building…and a Grey’s Anatomy moment when I saw a helicopter land at Benihoff and the stretcher and staff rush out to it

Civic CenterĀ

Caught up with my friend Carolyn today for a walk around Civic Center and the Center City Farmer’s Market! Meeting spot was SF’s beautiful City Hall!

10,000

Reaching my October goal of 10,000 steps a day requires mutiple walks throughout the day. Here are some photos of two of the spots I hit on yesterday’s 3 walks (I didn’t think a mid-day walk to Trader Joe’s merited photos). First thing in the morning, I saw the sunrise over the “crooked street” and I had a lovely rainy afternoon walk at Stowe Lake in GG Park.

Presidio

Walked for an hour in this urban forest today. It was glorious, perhaps mostly because I’d been meaning to do it for 9 years!

Donuts and Deprivation

I was excited to wake up today and hit the scale. When I saw the unexpectedly low number, I ran to tell my husband and said, “I don’t feel deprived.” I mean that. As I was walking to WW, I passed Bob’s Donuts. I saw these monsters in the window and I was not quite disgusted, but perhaps moderately amused as I thought how each of these could probably feed a family of 13. I had no interest. I have a bigger goal in mind than the momentary pleasure a donut provides. Don’t get me wrong. I love donuts…I could wax nostalgic about donuts for pages and have often described them as my absolute favorite food. But right now, I’m in “the zone” and no donut is worth it.

The Pyramid

Today’s high-water mark was actually a low-water mark: a walk down Columbus to loop around the Transamerica Building. I wanted to pass E Tutto Qua, praying for Paul Avvento’s recovery. Finished with a loop around Washington Square Park. 40 minutes and home by 7!
